Glucocorticoids

Brain tumors are often surrounded by significant edema in the brain tissue. This edema reacts well to glucocorticoids, which leads to considerable alleviation of symptoms for the patient. If edema is present, the patient should receive a glucocorticoid before the operation. However, glucocorticoids are a purely symptomatic treatment; The definitive treatment of the edema around the tumor is to remove the tumor.
