Symptoms of laryngeal cancer

Advanced tumor causes dyspnea which may necessitate a tracheotomy and also causes referred pain to the ear or difficulty in swallowing.

Glottis

Cancer in the glottic larynx gives early symptoms in the form of hoarseness. Hoarseness of unknown cause lasting for more than three weeks should always be evaluated by an ENT specialist.

Supraglottis

Cancer in the supra/sub glottic larynx causes symptoms relatively late. Symptoms may be changes of the voice, foreign body sensation, and stridor. Spreading to lymph nodes on the neck may be the first symptom.
