Surgery of salivary gland cancer

Surgery may lead to facial paralysis. Primary nerve suturing is done if possible (5).

In the event of facial paralysis, tarsoraphy is considered (permanent eyelid closure) to prevent drying of the cornea.

Plastic surgery is also considered to lift the corner of the mouth of the paralyzed side. Other complicated procedures are available for reanimation of the facial muscles.
