Prognosis of soft tissue sarcoma in extremities and trunk wall

Five year survival for localized soft tissue sarcoma in the extremities and trunk wall is approximately 60%.

The prognosis depends on malignancy grade, histology type, tumor size, localization, microscopic growth patterns, necrosis, vessel infiltration, and extent of disease.

Malignancy grade is a more important prognostic factor than histology type.

The quality of the surgical resection is of great significance for the risk of local recurrence.
